It runs until the 17th April 2010. It is a collaborative exhbition between young artists who work within many art genres, fine art, graphic design etc. It is therefore aptly titled 'Mixed Media'.Joanne Hoyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12585936526024070640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7917260727646545027.post-85539675213340427372010-02-15T21:09:00.002+02:002010-02-15T21:13:11.987+02:00New face of my blogNo longer an experimental site where I throw around ideas for my work. I have just begun teaching art at a school in Durban. So along with my own work I will be posting some of the interesting work that my students are busy with.Joanne Hoyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12585936526024070640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7917260727646545027.post-65000426823934021362009-11-24T12:10:00.002+02:002009-11-24T12:19:26.048+02:00The final countdownWow, this year has really blown by in a whirl of creativity. My exhibition is due to be hung in a weeks time. That is a scary thought although I am ready for it and am anticipating seeing all my years of hard work hanging on the gallery walls. This is the work <em>Fragmented</em> (2009) which I have been dragging my heels with, but it is finally done.Joanne Hoyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12585936526024070640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7917260727646545027.post-92016963896420426922009-10-23T17:19:00.003+02:002009-10-23T17:37:23.196+02:00Crazy week ~This is a very amateur little creation of the small squares evolving into what I had hoped to be a recognisable image. I recently re-discovered my B. Tech (2006 )work whilst researching for a chapter in my dissertation. It was so wonderful to re-engage myself with the work I did then as it gave me a fresh perspective on my current work. So I though I would post a few images from that exhibition.</div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392380660020458258" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKLVtuplXeL_Gay9Vr243whTsxlxaNvOqCAE9y2Q0TpanXySp1VhxBlcJgxMcFncXPmYhseKPYlt1kTl4EKCv710EbYYYxJDSpN7rVbIIv37qeBFbUOHYFRs_8nKoZCnu4Z2rozSiW_Po/s400/Untitled+2.JPG" border="0" /> <p align="center"><br /><em>Untitled Four (Perfume Ad)</em> (2006)<br />Mixed Media on canvas (200 x 150cm)<br /><br /></p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicpQkgFUTgiv2AQY6Stv7rrEOghyphenhyphen0TzeDdp1mQsxX_vN9ofNYquHHmt8kp_aQBvXNcUJ3-s3imBmDVkugo108AQyDYiDFeBYonlQFtODTjl980wRUTV7lMjCmM6jivRjmxDMDosC8YY2w/s1600-h/Untitled+4a.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392377218496624450" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicpQkgFUTgiv2AQY6Stv7rrEOghyphenhyphen0TzeDdp1mQsxX_vN9ofNYquHHmt8kp_aQBvXNcUJ3-s3imBmDVkugo108AQyDYiDFeBYonlQFtODTjl980wRUTV7lMjCmM6jivRjmxDMDosC8YY2w/s400/Untitled+4a.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf8M6hiGLewVqElHbSAiiPX0OhH98YN-fRkWANiWgbCksN3iWrk21aJfyuaaFLnekVlUw5jb0pD_GGa8k0rBcS0mjuwaL5EPm1x-O6BCIMPIg4rH7wMhwENWlEiN4Cu8CkjCiH6nCGGDI/s1600-h/Untitled+4.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392377208143689554" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf8M6hiGLewVqElHbSAiiPX0OhH98YN-fRkWANiWgbCksN3iWrk21aJfyuaaFLnekVlUw5jb0pD_GGa8k0rBcS0mjuwaL5EPm1x-O6BCIMPIg4rH7wMhwENWlEiN4Cu8CkjCiH6nCGGDI/s400/Untitled+4.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><em>Untitled Six (Everyday Placemats)</em> (2006)</div><div align="center">2 of 7 (20 x 30 cm)<br /><br /><br /><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjflJ_giJYzxTL5AmX5QZLRDODLUyLaXoc9GFmk1XlN6gHAQOT4h48LLMOKAKuilqnyadCYut0vg24G4hWAbvQBUQHtCqn_95Y8dyJmoqQYnM6ISGycvmiBhWhkHjxvy-uYRqT6ZergxwA/s1600-h/Untitled+3.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392377198967830210" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 169px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjflJ_giJYzxTL5AmX5QZLRDODLUyLaXoc9GFmk1XlN6gHAQOT4h48LLMOKAKuilqnyadCYut0vg24G4hWAbvQBUQHtCqn_95Y8dyJmoqQYnM6ISGycvmiBhWhkHjxvy-uYRqT6ZergxwA/s400/Untitled+3.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><em>Untitled Two (Summertime)</em> (2006)</div><div align="center">Mixed Media on canvas</div><div align="center">140 x 60 cm<br /><br /><br /></div><br /><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZTPWSMEzThLfL5qHTuJzVcbXXgAHXvcCznkAFb-3aS4-cI48_mTTE5plXeVTlxvHO5v9-7HYMnIluIFpb_iP_PVzE_PELKfv-1DP7TtzdIfhpwEp4zpDKaVuLgw7X_o6z1onQvAaArm0/s1600-h/Untitled-1.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392377197307379778" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 397px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZTPWSMEzThLfL5qHTuJzVcbXXgAHXvcCznkAFb-3aS4-cI48_mTTE5plXeVTlxvHO5v9-7HYMnIluIFpb_iP_PVzE_PELKfv-1DP7TtzdIfhpwEp4zpDKaVuLgw7X_o6z1onQvAaArm0/s400/Untitled-1.jpg" border="0" /></a><em>Untitled Three (Reclining Figure)</em> (2006)<br />Mixed Media on canvas </div><div align="center">30 x 120cm, 90 x 120cm </div></div>Joanne Hoyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12585936526024070640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7917260727646545027.post-54855119622230446762009-10-14T10:46:00.002+02:002009-10-14T10:51:20.178+02:00<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyVAwf2NxjV96pXGzEL2Vbns6dh2waPdgvOXHPM0kQQ2XlQvBfsAR7JmtHy8B_Qj9bWr0LkNMmEGONfIPkYdzWqmbkUxgixRJ5tTP3GyXjHYs8QvcN4hT6ZyOCurM8gVDVmWgqE-HicFw/s1600-h/waysofseeing.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392374996794708066" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 258px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyVAwf2NxjV96pXGzEL2Vbns6dh2waPdgvOXHPM0kQQ2XlQvBfsAR7JmtHy8B_Qj9bWr0LkNMmEGONfIPkYdzWqmbkUxgixRJ5tTP3GyXjHYs8QvcN4hT6ZyOCurM8gVDVmWgqE-HicFw/s400/waysofseeing.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>I have only just recently bought myself a copy of John Berger's <em>Ways of Seeing </em>(1972). It is under two months and is very rapidly approaching. I was completely unproductive last week being so sick with tonsilitis but hopefully I can make up for it this week. I have a lot that still needs to be completed and for the most part it is my thesis which is taking forever now! I really need to get it done asap, so that it is out of my hair three weeks before my exhibition. So, work work work!!!Joanne Hoyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12585936526024070640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7917260727646545027.post-16872186073483104362009-10-03T12:09:00.005+02:002009-10-14T10:46:29.616+02:00New PieceI have been working on a large piece which contains of hundreds of small blocks, see below as the image starts to form.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388314716917683698" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbnQg2A5HK0AqvZRCNRdR3ts2-ypoICEnERsqUj3FPkCDP89F4ViY4vjFL30r8vzEnJPa3VIp5xvsB9u7iK__JmqsYtMrWCXr9M3uOFfIsHPB6j4O69qLD0vGiqDap_WsnizNhDbeHVyw/s400/Block+1.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388314731898899890" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8rNCMJfFOCMesVF_UhpK-LhwFCWFrd0N4X2kTviTTq7N5eDTbne_kYXNxyRXwXYwTLZwWv2M6WO6H5Amk3bioJbvuQLqkkb4_6UzivyTY3YpRtWepMKFkk7kHHdxpYaS680JiSfx0IDw/s400/26082009.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388314719512614018" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEif9Q6MLr0TzT2jVc707V7rDAOO-xB2rvjD4ZJRIV5GSDTPuHq9vWlK62leQGCs05SDiL6vdr2CBIk5M8wkO4mOviTglSRHjk429vRBfep5K3PbhRW-v5h-dfcqPfAeBuL-ZDWfDQwtu0g/s400/29092009_002.jpg" border="0" /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKF7bwZAnFfBneW7fpQ6mxYU1DRmmrhyphenhyphenvOhTbTAiKjupkW6J7idxtvhuRcQMyibewnsgJr5n8OzHF7MrEujncVAevFGx7HYC6mDc6MfPQerxw-r8E0u_eCNTIMgHBYrfl7nB-8N3jzbC0/s1600-h/Sb4.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388314751612627042" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 323px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKF7bwZAnFfBneW7fpQ6mxYU1DRmmrhyphenhyphenvOhTbTAiKjupkW6J7idxtvhuRcQMyibewnsgJr5n8OzHF7MrEujncVAevFGx7HYC6mDc6MfPQerxw-r8E0u_eCNTIMgHBYrfl7nB-8N3jzbC0/s400/Sb4.jpg" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE2qeIiiYfVSCiion8_vhIUCh7j1WbPjJXMJBIjRo1WWaIKXmuX4lRiyxuARXB2XS6UQCmaVRFuH0B283qV1BWAdOPnWjo32Aq-6jm1-PehdywRE8aSF27LCwi0nuo5HQbzJGY42a9sd0/s1600-h/Sb2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388314736996550418" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 326px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE2qeIiiYfVSCiion8_vhIUCh7j1WbPjJXMJBIjRo1WWaIKXmuX4lRiyxuARXB2XS6UQCmaVRFuH0B283qV1BWAdOPnWjo32Aq-6jm1-PehdywRE8aSF27LCwi0nuo5HQbzJGY42a9sd0/s400/Sb2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392373181205218450" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMs6yy_gdy_cUwZQShuVHMjTTLkbBZqufyQo4ve32T5iLUbkOgbEBb2aJonbzJTtf-9K2nINfHHmHXC2gjm6_HWw2M8Xm6eOSgFAzbU3wjxB63a1DWrEXSj-8qebMWBuCj4DxvO9NsSr0/s400/13+october.jpg" border="0" />Its still looking very incomplete but its getting there!Joanne Hoyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12585936526024070640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7917260727646545027.post-68836519557720951592009-08-17T17:55:00.003+01:002009-08-17T18:41:41.514+01:00Debrief<div>13th August 2009 I had a crit of my work up until now. They speak about all forms and levels of shame. The use of collage in these works is subtle and is represented through the use of imported objects such as the stamps and eyelashes etc. I think these are incredibly emotive works, which really express Siopis's intention.<br /><br /><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGmgSlIWgtDxtNOyTGe-eDG8pJP3jZ1XtXxoYvavx5Qj4a78kOwvq6RVAnXDfNUYTjIiUFzNAVKxdLMG2SJUJwbbPzOmE7B2eigUb_be6JmmVXdTuZdPP44ujPWX0_slc2M2sX7nbTgCw/s1600-h/DSCN2191.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356364776791338130" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGmgSlIWgtDxtNOyTGe-eDG8pJP3jZ1XtXxoYvavx5Qj4a78kOwvq6RVAnXDfNUYTjIiUFzNAVKxdLMG2SJUJwbbPzOmE7B2eigUb_be6JmmVXdTuZdPP44ujPWX0_slc2M2sX7nbTgCw/s400/DSCN2191.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJLNqDJZJf4mgrfvoeOwDTb7BuhIegauSC45CWGwQReHX5o1auU-_pURSo95zGH83SIb3F11CP4gGzVtYClUGgnianJiDAj1AyiufNXjIHT8WRFx9oHK0xKnUhxqsrzuiR_5EqDV5ifM0/s1600-h/DSCN2177.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356364772564249858" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJLNqDJZJf4mgrfvoeOwDTb7BuhIegauSC45CWGwQReHX5o1auU-_pURSo95zGH83SIb3F11CP4gGzVtYClUGgnianJiDAj1AyiufNXjIHT8WRFx9oHK0xKnUhxqsrzuiR_5EqDV5ifM0/s400/DSCN2177.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356364766616003442" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5FnwEmpQ9EQ3sWYUwPKMj8RQ__R8gv-o_HlomI_J_RETrqPOjE7oGaoE8vI0HBxEvLp6s2B9YvB3k87I3VbwAkTjUp_674vz4Txa1Xia1bcQi-Wz416rlYZaXI8VIXzt2R8B9A0hXKyg/s400/DSCN2175.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br /><div align="center"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356364761081806754" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGuJsUMrBtZBX0dXiEf1dv6KiDY1RtBx5Z_ezvaYWxtCRnxLmWFPkRRJebdF1NCEpY-S3lKGykRxZbBVGbStBJBhmD8jAMvylBhhLq1mw5x1pW5WOWviJvflqZO-J5FZe5MauuBFqug9o/s400/DSCN2172.JPG" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356359914101425026" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAacuoabr0LWp6oZ2VVeSZRBU7dk3P5KwfVK7p_fSBC6kETSPC9mef_p8dUwxnOIcr2_4mp1WM3MWU8DpS_vVcHSmfNM19ChOicXLRJ0bFefY7I2gpADAUy5VGcAzYugunAtBr2m7qlVY/s400/DSCN2170.JPG" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356359910900655554" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiawIQ5Jelr8V2HhHVHPKVi_vZMvW4-PmppWnc8M_wDuhyYwHHps5ypU7Rl9NIuJ6vFP4mcqSxlmAG9GkAlyPTSQeRqwWjyHMLfI3BGgCgMDm5zNSvK5WG-Z8NrK6URe4jyCLMuC_tDJOU/s400/DSCN2187.JPG" border="0" /><br />The next two images forms part of the <em>Blush</em> (2005) series. It began as one big painting which did not seem to work as one piece. After many crits I was advised to separate each element into an individual panel. So as it stands now it creates a triptych. It wont necessarily be displayed in this manner or sequence. The work also marked the beginning of the use of layering and stitching.</div><div></div><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351611815237412882" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 344px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 312px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMO_dLHUlTbzNQZAQZUWd10e3nvwO7A7LOmJkYcfRjP_kFDlf9qxoDhJ5audBezE6m3ijBEtnQ6T-TC8kl3xBfK_FfkKm_PvKumeaCzyrJjztcQiyXJRhojfKF9YskB3wOwbcbXQ_X18E/s320/DSCN1168low+res.jpg" border="0" /><br />This is a series of covered boxes which deals with the idea of concealing and revealing. The viewer is given no clue as to what is under the zip, however, the shape of the boxes refer to the silhouette of the female body in particular the torso. The fabric used for the covers refer to domesticity and the mask which it can often create. The viewer is tempted to unzip the cover to reveal the images/writing on the concealed boxes but feels unsure as to what is hidden underneath. I have decided through a discussion with my supervisor that the outside should provide a small clue/hint as to what the box portrays. This is something I still need to complete.<br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351606777412881122" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 374px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 275px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYerSwf-qUgmOfSHUrlIzw0nQPCQ_LQ-4tAvLDYzWexuRIZwhlYPQbaeiW2hIz4TMhhPfSut1felvZPQoRN6lk0qRlATXOPrQ3g0N0lLh5BqHCcduRG_Sdml1OD6VVNOz0NxUcNjHLyCw/s320/03062009_001.jpg" border="0" />Below are a few close ups of the boxes individually.</div><br /><div><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351610561807418034" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 306px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 365px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv4ePbT6ouJdfF7mQWjoiMwPuRLp0POzNqVk8IVqCaEDHqsWF5M-RrrzB9FPApzUG2fhIKUgvRXp-6TeNNu7L_NF2I7Nq8Dol5NIYRqt4wSJh1m1jlT0uHtlGigeRDL3w5uj35Ni6l-hQ/s320/DSCN1153low+res.jpg" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351611126608322434" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 316px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 422px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtbdDZ0ry5f1Ux3_8AdarYS_KDMIFWtGLiYGW1kV45eM44nIpeG1lvRi74QJqh3kFSDrHo7-L_Z9mOy2yaiqw9_Wa1TBhRRwRPlNP7j7E85g8Jsw7zx8MhI3m2tlcwAiyBHIhOK88OIT0/s320/DSCN1157low+res.jpg" border="0" /><br /><br /><div>The following are meant to be viewed in a series. However was very fortunate to have attended the exhibtion opening of Penny Siopis' latest exhibtion at the KZNSA, Durban, South Africa. Titled: RED THE ICONOGRAPHY OF COLOUR IN THE WORK OF PENNY SIOPIS. <a href="http://www.nsagallery.co.za/current_main.htm">http://www.nsagallery.co.za/current_main.htm</a><br /><br />It was an exhibition that came at a perfect time for me as I am studying some of her work for my dissertation. What made the exhibition interesting was that it was a selection of work which was not limited by its time period but rather by its use of the colour red. It was amazing to see all these different series together and in the flesh.<br /><br />Siopis did a walkabout on Thursday 25th June which was very informative and gave everyone a chance to converse casually with the artist about the work. I thoroughly enjoyed it!<br /><br /><div></div><div>Some examples of Penny Siopis's work include:</div><div></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5351598489710878674" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 103px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlyNs3aMNWnYOzsyOpuJwiqRQOGhcoCf-FEsn4VZgqScYwx9M5TlLp9_Ta3PfhjQI2WQxwwska0-H6SNoYLc6JYgJS2nadXLfrddDiLUFoDafzQNT8PbWlcdp6Luwvk7drBgWnQvo7SxE/s320/Pinky+Pinky+Wounds(c).jpg" border="0" /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div></div>Joanne Hoyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12585936526024070640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7917260727646545027.post-77075276661955231032009-06-22T15:55:00.001+01:002009-06-22T15:56:26.400+01:00These pieces, on such a small scale, gave me the oppotunity to really experiment with textures, fabrics and imported objects which are relevant to my life and how i represent myself through my life.Joanne Hoyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12585936526024070640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7917260727646545027.post-48226249808600372422009-06-22T15:52:00.001+01:002009-06-22T15:54:57.765+01:00<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkIRmrM7U_f4-7k8Qcwv3-r_-ygwD8fgN8v7FNTYfBnmy1QwdiAKOkp3EEO1S-qIR8ROJevDW7vHFYUCeC9DS_Tu446QjHuUY9n4FeRd6bil1QxIK9nZXLaBKLdXZkAEiEX6tGVG3wh4c/s1600-h/12062009_003.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350165232984211794" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkIRmrM7U_f4-7k8Qcwv3-r_-ygwD8fgN8v7FNTYfBnmy1QwdiAKOkp3EEO1S-qIR8ROJevDW7vHFYUCeC9DS_Tu446QjHuUY9n4FeRd6bil1QxIK9nZXLaBKLdXZkAEiEX6tGVG3wh4c/s320/12062009_003.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div></div>Joanne Hoyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12585936526024070640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7917260727646545027.post-58930180216234795872009-06-22T15:50:00.001+01:002009-06-22T15:51:30.450+01:00<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKQI3oLXEvoFuyugxwa_0Pw57uMtV4u-p67eVC9Ray8DHXVE53xFAvLFj3lnjq0ONNyymDOqzek3Vasf8sAVSDdLtA3mJuU_DEqq2b6VW7cv4WsLffVYtefwSoxvf9klrQlTpVggDks48/s1600-h/12062009_005.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350164627649286674" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKQI3oLXEvoFuyugxwa_0Pw57uMtV4u-p67eVC9Ray8DHXVE53xFAvLFj3lnjq0ONNyymDOqzek3Vasf8sAVSDdLtA3mJuU_DEqq2b6VW7cv4WsLffVYtefwSoxvf9klrQlTpVggDks48/s320/12062009_005.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div></div>Joanne Hoyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12585936526024070640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7917260727646545027.post-36488629696567679102009-06-22T15:40:00.004+01:002009-06-26T13:51:04.642+01:00Experimental Canvasses on a small scale<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUZnW-Ob05lardtXUuvWgTGZCMo4bc8jgkZFDG0A0BS3x7VOR5C3-NDTpnJGAXk0n4Ys7NIqcYhOCnybGq5hR2_u67dg1wvOE1KH8cMyIRt5vfq_4YDWZe_4AZiP-2J6cdyfvsunR6ycg/s1600-h/12062009_006.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350162069250535378" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUZnW-Ob05lardtXUuvWgTGZCMo4bc8jgkZFDG0A0BS3x7VOR5C3-NDTpnJGAXk0n4Ys7NIqcYhOCnybGq5hR2_u67dg1wvOE1KH8cMyIRt5vfq_4YDWZe_4AZiP-2J6cdyfvsunR6ycg/s320/12062009_006.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>These are a few examples of a piece that I am working on (Untitled still) they will be arranged on the wall so that from far the arrangement suggests an image...will post final image when it is complete</div>Joanne Hoyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12585936526024070640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7917260727646545027.post-34162359348638558402009-06-22T15:37:00.003+01:002009-06-22T15:39:59.700+01:00Pre vacation progressThere is no time for me to have a holiday this winter!
